Happy Halloween all!

Cowgirls and Nerds<3

So I haven't dressed up for Halloween since I was in high school. Don't get me wrong, I love Halloween, but I'm just not a fan of dressing up and partying all night long. I was never really into the whole dressing up like a hooker thing either. No offense if you're into that though. Jarrett isn't really into all that stuff either. We've never really dressed up together and went out, and we're okay with that. You may call me or us boring, but I don't care. We usually stay in, watch scary movies and sometimes give out candy. We are just a private, simple couple and we love us!

Today at the store we were allowed to dress up. Since I had most of everything that I needed for a cowgirl costume, that's what I decided to be. I matched too. I had on all pink, so I dubbed myself "The Pink Cowgirl" for the day. It felt good to just dress up for the day and not have to wear normal work clothes. After work I went grocery shopping just like every other military wife because we finally got paid today! I left my porch light off because I wasn't going to be giving out candy and I didn't want kids knocking on the door and freaking Leo out. Thank goodness Walmart was a ghost town because I was not in the mood for all those crazy grocery shoppers. I got in and out in less than an hour. I think that's a record for me!

Hoping everyone had a great Halloween whether you dressed up and went out, stayed in and handed out candy, watched scary movies or even went grocery shopping.

Now, on to my two favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas! :)

Personality test!

My Co-worker, Jillian, was telling me about this personality test that she and my mother in law took. Turns out, they both have the same exact personality, which is a really rare personality. After they took it, I decided to also. This is what I found!

Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test
Your Type:
ENFJ
Extravert(33%) iNtuitive(38%) iNtuitive Feeling(62%) Judging(1%)
  • You have moderate preference of Extraversion over Introversion (33%)
  • You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)
  • You have distinctive preference of Feeling over Thinking (62%)
  • You have marginal or no preference of Judging over Perceiving (1%)

ENFJ Profile:
  • ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

  • ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

  • ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate organization and decisiveness. But they don't resemble the SJs or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor occasional recalcitrance.

  • ENFJs are organized in the arena of interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered, but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.

  • ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of the burdens of others than they can bear.

After I took the test, I was shocked to find that it described me exactly. It was so neat! I mean I took Psychology in high school and college, and have taken similar tests, but none have described me like this. You all should take it too--->Human Metrics Personality Test!

Weekend stuff!

This weekend was a rather relaxing one with one of my best friends, my boys and my in laws. There wasn't much going on due to lovely Hurricane Sandy. Awesome. So, Friday I worked till five and then met Rachel for dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Neither of us had ever been there so we decided to try it out. Boy was it delicious! We both got burgers of course and they were pretty much amazing. After dinner, knowing Rachel and myself, we both got dessert. Actually, every time we enter a restaurant dessert is the first thing on our minds. What can we say, we love anything sweet. After dinner and dessert we just went back to my house and hung out with Leo for a little. Leo clearly missed his Aunt Rachel!

Saturday, Jarrett and I headed to good old Walmart to stock up on more food and supplies for the Hurricane. I then had to work at three which made for a really boring night because of the anticipated storm. At least my mother in law was working with me so it was fun as usual. She definitely makes things less boring. When I got home from work, we decided to go ahead and bring all of our patio furniture and accessories inside in case it started to get windy. Really good idea considering the winds did pick up the next morning. Sunday we just lounged around the house watching football and then the in laws came over for dinner. Sunday dinner consisted of shrimp cocktail as an appetizer then steak, baked potatoes and broccoli salad. Yum yum yum!

Today, we went over to the in laws for a big breakfast since we were all off work from the hurricane. My mother in law made breakfast potatoes, sausage, poached eggs, pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Can you say stuffed? It was amazing. We then went home and stayed in the rest of the day because the weather started to get pretty bad. I spent the rest of my day cleaning my house until it was spotless. I usually despise cleaning, but I love to clean when the weather is crappy. It is so therapeutic and relaxing to me for some reason. While I was cleaning I got the phone call that I had been waiting for. One of my best friends, Erica, is pregnant and she found out today that she is having a baby GIRL!!!! I am beyond excited for her, plus I am really stoaked to start planning the baby shower with my other best friend, Brooke!

Tonight I leave you with a video that just might make you laugh. This is Jarrett blow drying Leo after he was outside in the pouring rain! Enjoy! :)

Let the couponing begin!

Alright! I've decided to start couponing. Above is my coupon envelope to hold my coupons. My mother in-law has a friend back in Maryland that is really into the extreme couponing, so she gave her a whole bag of coupons to do with whatever she wanted. Of course, my mother in-law decides to pawn some of them off to me of which I'm very glad she did! I must have over fifty coupons in my envelope already which will really come in handy for our grocery shopping trip this coming week.

Even though I'm starting to coupon, I REFUSE to become one of those obsessed couponing people. I don't mean to judge them or anything, but becoming that obsessed with coupons is just insane. All Extreme Couponing is is one big competition between all of these couponers to have the most of all these random items in their home and to be the person that saves the most and even gets money back in return at the check out lane. I mean if it works for them then by all means do it, but I refuse to let couponing control my life like it does to those people on the show. All I want to do is save a decent amount of money at the grocery store while getting all of the items that we actually NEED. Simple as that.

Although, I might turn my coupon envelope into a folder at some point, but if you ever see me turn the folder into a full blown binder, I give you permission to slap me in the face! :)

Ikea heaven!

So believe it or not, as much as I love home decor, I have NEVER been to Ikea or even their website. I have seen the amazing commercials and have even had several testimonies about how awesome they are. Tonight, I went to their website for the first time. I am in love. Right now, I am so beyond excited for us to buy our first house. I cannot wait for us to own our own home and for me to decorate a home and not an apartment. Don't get me wrong, I do love our apartment and I am very proud of myself for everything that I have accomplished in it when it comes to home decor, but I want a big, beautiful, country home to decorate. I want a huge home, and I want to complain because it is too big and I don't want to clean it haha! This may sound cliche, but I want my house to look like something in a magazine. These are the things that I fell in love with on the website.
This TV stand is gorgeous, plus it has all the storage I'll ever need!
The most beautiful bookshelf I have ever seen. I haven't always been a fan of white furniture since I am a cherry wood furniture kind of gal, but this is like heaven and I want my books and magazines on it.
Floral storage baskets. I am such a sucker for baskets and store containers. There are so many patterns that you can find to make storing your belongings look cute. I love to organize and when you have a crazy little puppy running around, these sure do come in handy. You have to make organizing fun and cute, and these are the way to do it.
Polka dot storage containers. Need I say more? :)
A simple wrap around couch. We want one of these for our apartment, but we don't have enough room for one. It still makes me sad till this day that we can't have one, but oh will things change once we buy a house.
I want a footstool so bad. I have always wanted one. Footstools just add a little bit more comfort to a comfy, cozy wrap around couch.

I feel like every living room or loft area should have a printed chair like this one. I happen to love leaf prints, so this is exactly the kind of chair I would want in my living room.
I love love love the boho looking rugs. You could use this as a rug or hang it on your wall above your bed. Perfect.

Pillows. I am beginning to be obsessed with pillows. All you need is a simple couch and a lot of patterned pillows like these. I tend to go towards flower printed pillows.
A new bed frame. We literally have the comfiest bed in the whole world of which is missing a nice bed frame. I need this one in particularly.

A guest day bed. I think that day beds are so neat and so different from normal beds. It just adds a specific flare to any guest bedroom.

And last but certainly not least, a big bold kitchen. Right now in our apartment, I have a kitchen that is the size of a pea. Jarrett and I love to cook together, but we end up stepping on eachothers toes constantly in the kitchen we have. The deciding factor in our first home will definitely be the kitchen.

After seeing all of the inspiration Ikea has to offer, I must plan a trip there soon. I have all of these ideas floating around now and I cannot wait to put those ideas to good use.

Happy decorating all,
Katie<3

Weekend stuff!

My weekend was pretty good. Friday I worked all day, but it was pay day so I was a happy girl. When I got off at the store, I did what most girls do when they get paid...I went shopping! I really needed to get some new dressy pants for work since my favorite black pair are so worn out. While looking for pants I decided to look for a couple of more dressy tops to go with my new pants. I wanted to add a little more to my dressy clothes wardrobe.

When I graduated two years ago, I went dress clothing/interview clothes shopping like a crazy person. I couldn't wait to buy pencil skirts, blazers, gorgeous professional tops, trousers and more flats and heels. I bought all of these items and even though I haven't found my full time position yet, I still get to wear all of them. When I have an interview, I have all the means to make myself very presentable whether I get the job or not. I also get to wear most of my wardrobe to my retail position. I feel lucky to have a position that harps on the professionalism of clothing in the workplace. I get to go to work every day in the store wearing my black trousers, my dressy tops and my comfortable black flats.
Even though I was strictly dress clothes shopping, I snuck in a $10 adorable scarf from New York and Company. I'm in love!
I ended up getting three tops and the black pants I so desperately needed. The blue top is a wrap around blouse that I found at New York and Company for $10 on sale. It had originally been $34.99! Steal! The other two shirts and the black wide leg trousers are from the brand Worthington at JC Penny. I got the tops and pants for $45 total! I love when I get a good deal! I just might start blogging about each good deal I get when I go shopping since it seems to be so frequently!

I had also ordered new perfume online from Macy's of which it was sitting on my door step when I came home from work that night. I ordered Rose Gold from Michael Kors. It smells absolutely amazing.
With my order they sent me free samples of Gucci's new perfumes and a couple of other perfumes, plus a free Michael Kors tote bag pictured below. Yay for free stuff.

Saturday I worked all day and then the hubby and I had date night. He took me to Cheddar's for a delicious dinner and then he took me to Coldstone for dessert. So yummy! We then came home and both passed out from exhaustion. I then had Sunday and today off thank goodness. I love that store, but man it burns me out sometimes. Sunday Jarrett and I went back to church after not going in almost three months. It's not that we didn't want to go, we just have had a lot going on lately with the puppy and me having to work some Sundays. Sometimes you just get caught up in your life and forget some important things like going to church. It felt amazing to get back in to it again though. I feel better about my life and my future when I hear God's word. It's as if he is reassuring me that everything will work out and be fine.

After church we took Leo to the groomers of which took forever. I'm not really going to get in to it all with you guys, but we were about to go all crazy customer on them lol. Our anger may have also steamed from the awful lose our team suffered. Yes, our Ravens lost really bad, but hey, every team is entitled to a really bad loss every now and then. I still and will always love my Ravens. Needless to say, we weren't very happy campers most of the day. It all got better thought when we went over to my in-laws for dinner and more football. My mother in-law's cooking is so amazingly good I can barely put it in to words. I'll just show you instead.
BBQ chicken, salad with cucumbers and Italian dressing, spinach and cheese casserole and cheesy couliflowers. Yummy x10!
She always makes the best desserts too. She is where I get most of my baking inspiration from. This little masterpiece is a pumpkin layered cake with cream cheese frosting in between and caramel, slivered almonds and whipped cream on top. I almost died when I took my first bite
After the Patriots/Jets game we went back home and spent the rest of the evening playing and being silly with Leo (as you can see above) and watching our favorite Sunday night show The Walking Dead. It's a pretty gross show, but it's also really really good. You should jump on the bandwagon and check it out.

Hoping that you all had a fantastic weekend,
and wishing you great weekends to come!

Ready for Black Friday!

So, I know Black Friday is still a little over a month away, but I already have my shopping trip on the brain. Every Friday after Thanksgiving, like everyone else, I go Black Friday shopping. I usually use this day to focus on buying fall and winter clothes including long sleeved tops, hoodies, sweaters, jeans, scarves and any other accessories that I come across. I go shopping with a budget, and I usually get a lot for my money. If you go early enough, you can swing some really great deals, so it makes getting up super super early all that much worth it. I always find myself shopping at the same stores too. I always go to American Eagle, Kohl's and Macy's. I've already been searching those stores online trying to get an idea about what I want to purchase that day. Below is my Black Friday wish list!

From American Eagle:
AE Artists Jeans. I love them so much that I want three more pairs in all the basic jean washes.
Pointelle Loop Scarves. I am beginning to have a scarf addiction. I like to have a variety of different scarves for whatever the weather may be.

From Kohl's:

Sweaters from LC Lauren Conrad. I have always been a fan of Lauren Conrad, so when she brought her clothing line to Kohl's, I fell in love with her designs. There is nothing from her line that I don't like, honestly.

LC's 3/4 sleeve tops. If you know me, you know I have about a billion 3/4 sleeved tops in my closet. I don't know why I love them so much, but I do. I guess it's because they are perfect for the times when the weather is so back and forth you don't know whether to wear a long sleeved shirt or a short sleeved one. Just throw on a 3/4 sleeved top and you'll be ready for whatever!

From Macy's:

I love the brand American Rag. They can be pretty expensive for the most part, but when they put their clothing on sale, they really put it on sale.

Okay, now that I've posted all of these pictures I want to go shopping really bad, but I'll just have to wait and save my money for Black Friday! :)

Another dachshund please!

I'm really surprised that every single blog post isn't about Leo. He is literally the best dog ever and I could talk about him and his cuteness all day long. I never thought I could love an animal this much, but I really do. I just love dachshunds period. I told Jarrett the other day that we could just have a farm full of dachshunds and no children, and I would be a happy camper. Just kidding though. As much as I would love to have a house full of adorable dachshunds, I do want real children too haha! I'm pretty sure my obsession as stemmed from my mom's obsession with them. Ever since she got her dachshund Sophie, I knew Jarrett and I had to get one too. Jarrett wasn't as obsessed with them as my mom and I are, but now Leo has stolen his heart and he is an avid dachshund lover.

I just can't get over how fast puppies grow up. Leo has gone from being able to sit in my hand to this bigger and much longer puppy. He is finally crate trained, completely potty trained with no more accidents, he sits for treats, he listens when we tell him "no", he goes in his crate when it's time for bed without us telling him to, and all in all, he's amazing if I do say so myself. Here are some pictures of him when we first got him leading up to now.
Leo at 8 weeks I believe. What a cutie pie!
Laying on his car blanket at the breeder's house. Such a little boy.
Sleeping on Jarrett when we first got him back to my mom's house. He was just a tad bit worn out.
Sleeping with dad after he just got home from deployment. This is by far my most favorite picture. If I'm having a bad day, I just look at this and I'm all better.
My two happy boys!
Happy sleeping puppy! He literally melts my heart when he smiles in his sleep.
Every time we're eating a meal, this is what he does. He's so good at standing on his back legs. I feel like putting a sign on him that says "Will do tricks for food"! Haha!

My mother in law sent me this picture of him the other day looking out her window. So freaking precious!

So, it's not official or anything yet, but I'm hoping that once Leo is a year old or so that we can get another dachshund. I love having a little boy, but I NEED a little girl doxie. I've already picked out her name, that's how bad I want another one. Her name will be Madeline and we will call her Maddie for short! I want a little girl that I can dress up in cute little pink and purple outfits and show her off to the world. Yes, I'll be one of those owners that dresses her up in cute frilly little outfits. We bought Leo a rain coat the other day and he loved it, so we'll probably buy him more clothes soon since he'll actually wear them. I really want a long haired dachshund this time. The long haired ones are so gorgeous. I just want a dachshund that looks a little different than Leo.

Leo won't be a year old until April, so I'm trying to already budget and plan again like I did before. I'm hoping we'll be ready for another one by April because I really want Leo to have a companion. It's just hard because one puppy is definitely enough most of the time, and I feel like I might lose my mind with two puppies. It doesn't take much for me to get overwhelmed, and that was certainly the case when we brought Leo home. Now that he's much older, it's not so hard anymore, so at least I know it gets easier over time. I'm sure we can handle it. At least this time the planning isn't so hard being as we'll probably get her from the same breeder we got Leo from. Plus her prices are very reasonable and she's awesome to work with.

So stay tuned for when and if this happens! Also be prepared for more dachshund posts in the future! :)
