Jarrett's 27th Birthday

So, two months and one day after I was born, this handsome guy was born! My husband turned 27 yesterday and we celebrated by taking him to breakfast and then taking him to his favorite store Cabelas which just opened here in Anchorage. Cabelas is Jarrett's absolute favorite outdoors store and it just so happens that they opened the day before his birthday. Perfect timing, right? After a long afternoon of shopping at Cabelas, we came home and ate birthday cake. I got Jarrett a strawberry ice cream cake from Marble Slab Creamery. It was so delicious and he loved every bit of if! It also worked out really well that his mom was visiting during his birthday. It was just an all and all great day spent with the birthday boy and my mother in law.

Now a letter to the birthday boy. 

Dear Jarrett, 

Happy birthday honey! We are both officially 27! Woo hoo! I cannot believe that we are now considered in our late 20's and that we are basically pushing our 30's! Insane, babe! We met and started dating when we had just turned 18. My how time flys! I just want to say that I am so proud of you for all of your accomplishments! You have done so many amazing things since you entered the Air Force and I am so honored to be apart of it all. You are the best husband, Staff Sergeant, fur daddy and future father to our children and I cannot wait for the future with you. Thank you for choosing me as your wife even though I know I can be a lot to handle sometimes!  No matter how tough our military life may be at times, I will follow you to the ends of the earth! That will never change! I love you, honey! Happy birthday once again! 

Jarrett's 26th birthday

So, it's my husband's birthday and I am totally loving posting all of these baby photos of him! Hopefully he won't care too much, but I just had to. Some of them may be on Facebook and Instagram too, but I will neither confirm or deny! It is a wife's right of passage to post baby pictures of their husband and his birthday! HA!

While getting a head start on cleaning and packing for our big move, I came across Jarrett's baby book in our guest room. I decided to sit down and look through it again since I haven't looked at it in forever. I pretty much fell in love with Jarrett all over again after going through it. Just looking at pictures of him as a baby and being held by his mom, dad, aunts and uncles just melts my heart. I mean I'm not biased or anything, but he is literally the cutest baby in the whole entire world! I cannot wait to see what our babies look like just from looking at his pictures!

I hate not being with him on his birthday, but we will hopefully be together really soon. We don't really know when he is coming home now, so I am holding on with everything I have for his return home. I'm just glad I got to talk to him today and that he had a good birthday despite being deployed and having to work a long and late shift. It's crazy that we both met and started dating when he were eighteen and now we are both twenty six with so much ahead of us! I cannot wait to see how our lives change before our next birthdays!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hated being away from Jarrett today, but I pulled through like a big girl. Jarrett usually gets deployed around this time every year, so it is rare if we get Valentine's Day together. Even though we are apart on this day a lot, he always makes up for it. Today I had roses and a beautiful note on the porch when I got home from work, and I cried like a baby! I hate being so emotional, but sometimes a girl has to belt out the tears! I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and to all you military wives with husbands deployed, I hope you all got through the day too! Here's to hopefully being with our husbands next Valentine's Day! :)

Friday's letters!

Dear Husband, this deployment is for the birds, but it won't be long until we are together for two weeks in an amazing country. After my visit, it won't be much longer until you are home. I will be counting down the days.
Dear Leo, you are driving me crazy! I know you're mad that your daddy is gone, but you need to be a good boy for mommy. Please and thank you!
Dear Mom, I am glad you are feeling better, but please never give me a health scare like that again! I want you alive and healthy for as long as possible. I love and miss you very much!
Dear Mommy in law, thank you for all your help with Leo. You are such a big help with checking on him when I'm at work for a long time. Hope you enjoy having him for two weeks. You might be happy to give him back to me after that long!

Weekend stuff and deployment!

This weekend was the last one with my hubby before he deployed so we made it count! Saturday after I got off work, we used our Cinebistro gift card from mom and went to the movies to eat a yummy dinner and see the movie Django. Jarrett absolutely loves Quentin Tarantino movies so since we weren't sure about what movie to see, we saw that. I can honestly say, it was amazing! I really liked it. I love that we're going to movies more because we use to go all the time and then we just got too busy and rarely ever went anymore. We've been so good lately with allowing time once a week for a date night. I love our date nights so much!

Sunday, we slept in, which was out of this world amazing, then we ran some errands to get Jarrett ready for his deployment. Later on we watched our Ravens kick some Colts butt and move on in the playoffs and then we cooked a fabulous steak dinner together. Perfect end to the weekend!

Yesterday, we finished some more errands and I attempted to apply for my passport for my upcoming trip to visit him in March, but oh no, you have to pay $110 as a check and the rest of the fees as cash or money order of which I had planned on just using my credit card for the whole thing. I now have to wait until pay day on Friday to get apply for my passport. So annoying! If I would have known all that then I would have planned out my money better instead of just using my credit card. Blah! Oh well, I will still get my passport in time if I apply Friday!

Today was not such a good day. On top of Jarrett deploying, this morning I got a disturbing phone call from my brother about my mom. She has type two diabetes and she had a huge spike in her blood sugar and had to go to the hospital. They had to run all kinds of tests and put her on an IV for a while because of dehydration. They also gave her insulin shots which brought her levels down a ton. She was then able to be discharged and the doctors upped her medication and the dosage and also gave her another medicine. If the medication works well for her and she makes some more life changes then she should not need to be on insulin. Thank The Lord!

Hold the people you love close to you tonight and never ever take them for granted!

Weekend stuff!



This weekend was a rather relaxing one with one of my best friends, my boys and my in laws. There wasn't much going on due to lovely Hurricane Sandy. Awesome. So, Friday I worked till five and then met Rachel for dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Neither of us had ever been there so we decided to try it out. Boy was it delicious! We both got burgers of course and they were pretty much amazing. After dinner, knowing Rachel and myself, we both got dessert. Actually, every time we enter a restaurant dessert is the first thing on our minds. What can we say, we love anything sweet. After dinner and dessert we just went back to my house and hung out with Leo for a little. Leo clearly missed his Aunt Rachel!

 

Saturday, Jarrett and I headed to good old Walmart to stock up on more food and supplies for the Hurricane. I then had to work at three which made for a really boring night because of the anticipated storm. At least my mother in law was working with me so it was fun as usual. She definitely makes things less boring. When I got home from work, we decided to go ahead and bring all of our patio furniture and accessories inside in case it started to get windy. Really good idea considering the winds did pick up the next morning. Sunday we just lounged around the house watching football and then the in laws came over for dinner. Sunday dinner consisted of shrimp cocktail as an appetizer then steak, baked potatoes and broccoli salad. Yum yum yum!

 

Today, we went over to the in laws for a big breakfast since we were all off work from the hurricane. My mother in law made breakfast potatoes, sausage, poached eggs, pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Can you say stuffed? It was amazing. We then went home and stayed in the rest of the day because the weather started to get pretty bad. I spent the rest of my day cleaning my house until it was spotless. I usually despise cleaning, but I love to clean when the weather is crappy. It is so therapeutic and relaxing to me for some reason. While I was cleaning I got the phone call that I had been waiting for. One of my best friends, Erica, is pregnant and she found out today that she is having a baby GIRL!!!! I am beyond excited for her, plus I am really stoaked to start planning the baby shower with my other best friend, Brooke!

Weekend stuff!

 

My weekend was pretty good. Friday I worked all day, but it was pay day so I was a happy girl. When I got off at the store, I did what most girls do when they get paid...I went shopping! I really needed to get some new dressy pants for work since my favorite black pair are so worn out. While looking for pants I decided to look for a couple of more dressy tops to go with my new pants. I wanted to add a little more to my dressy clothes wardrobe. 

 

When I graduated two years ago, I went dress clothing/interview clothes shopping like a crazy person. I couldn't wait to buy pencil skirts, blazers, gorgeous professional tops, trousers and more flats and heels. I bought all of these items and even though I haven't found my full time position yet, I still get to wear all of them. When I have an interview, I have all the means to make myself very presentable whether I get the job or not. I also get to wear most of my wardrobe to my retail position. I feel lucky to have a position that harps on the professionalism of clothing in the workplace. I get to go to work every day in the store wearing my black trousers, my dressy tops and my comfortable black flats.

Even though I was strictly dress clothes shopping, I snuck in a $10 adorable scarf from New York and Company. I'm in love!

I ended up getting three tops and the black pants I so desperately needed. The blue top is a wrap around blouse that I found at New York and Company for $10 on sale. It had originally been $34.99! Steal! The other two shirts and the black wide leg trousers are from the brand Worthington at JC Penny. I got the tops and pants for $45 total! I love when I get a good deal! I just might start blogging about each good deal I get when I go shopping since it seems to be so frequently!

 

I had also ordered new perfume online from Macy's of which it was sitting on my door step when I came home from work that night. I ordered Rose Gold from Michael Kors. It smells absolutely amazing.

With my order they sent me free samples of Gucci's new perfumes and a couple of other perfumes, plus a free Michael Kors tote bag pictured below. Yay for free stuff.

 

Saturday I worked all day and then the hubby and I had date night. He took me to Cheddar's for a delicious dinner and then he took me to Coldstone for dessert. So yummy! We then came home and both passed out from exhaustion. I then had Sunday and today off thank goodness. I love that store, but man it burns me out sometimes. Sunday Jarrett and I went back to church after not going in almost three months. It's not that we didn't want to go, we just have had a lot going on lately with the puppy and me having to work some Sundays. Sometimes you just get caught up in your life and forget some important things like going to church. It felt amazing to get back in to it again though. I feel better about my life and my future when I hear God's word. It's as if he is reassuring me that everything will work out and be fine.

 

After church we took Leo to the groomers of which took forever. I'm not really going to get in to it all with you guys, but we were about to go all crazy customer on them lol. Our anger may have also steamed from the awful lose our team suffered. Yes, our Ravens lost really bad, but hey, every team is entitled to a really bad loss every now and then. I still and will always love my Ravens. Needless to say, we weren't very happy campers most of the day. It all got better thought when we went over to my in-laws for dinner and more football. My mother in-law's cooking is so amazingly good I can barely put it in to words. I'll just show you instead.

BBQ chicken, salad with cucumbers and Italian dressing, spinach and cheese casserole and cheesy couliflowers. Yummy x10!

She always makes the best desserts too. She is where I get most of my baking inspiration from. This little masterpiece is a pumpkin layered cake with cream cheese frosting in between and caramel, slivered almonds and whipped cream on top. I almost died when I took my first bite

After the Patriots/Jets game we went back home and spent the rest of the evening playing and being silly with Leo (as you can see above) and watching our favorite Sunday night show The Walking Dead. It's a pretty gross show, but it's also really really good. You should jump on the bandwagon and check it out.
