Easter weekend stuff

We had the best Easter weekend considering this was our first Easter away from our family and friends! I worked on Saturday and had the best Sunday off with Jarrett and the puppies. Usually on Easter, Jarrett and I go to church with our families and then we have an amazing meal with both families. This year, Easter snuck up on us so fast we didn't even have time to find a church to visit or even finalize our Easter meal.

Since we moved, we have been trying to create our own traditions since we are unable to spend the holidays the way we normally do. During our first Thanksgiving and Christmas here, I cooked the meals that I was use to being served by both our families. Both meals turned out really delicious and I had a happy hubby. For Easter, I literally forgot about planning my meal. Yesterday morning, Jarrett asked me what we were going to cook as our Easter dinner. No clue. I felt awful for not planning an Easter meal or planning any Easter plans at that. Jarrett then planned out our day.
Since it was the most beautiful sunny day as well it should because our Lord and Savior rose on this day, Jarrett said we would take both dogs on a hike in our new favorite hiking spot. Later on in the day we would go to the shooting range and then come home and cook dinner featuring bacon wrapped steak with side dishes to be determined. I'm not going to lie. I felt weird not attending church on Easter Sunday. This was the first Sunday in a really long time that I did not attend church. While I do not plan to make this a habit on Easter Sunday, it felt kind of amazing to just sleep in with Jarrett and then get up and spend the whole day in the beautiful outdoors!
We slept in, I went and grabbed us Starbucks for breakfast and then we hit the road with the pups. We went on an awesome hike with both of our babies and it felt so cool to have both dogs out on our favorite hiking spot. They did so well considering there were other families and other dogs out on the trail too. Leo led the way on the trails like he had been on them before. He was so cute. We kept trying to get a good family picture, but we could not get both dogs still enough before the self timer went off. It is literally impossible to get those two to sit still for a picture. Needless to say, we still got some good pictures even if we couldn't all four be in them.
After our hike, we came home for a little bit and watched The Bible. I love The Bible so much and still want to see Son of God in the theater. I heard Son of God was really good! After we relaxed for a little bit, we went to the shooting range. Going to the shooting range is one of those mutual hobbies that my husband and I love to do together. It is nice to have hobbies that my husband and I can agree on. After the range, we came home and made our Easter dinner. Dinner consisted of bacon wrapped steak, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy and apple sauce with sprinkled cinnamon on top. After dinner I also made a spring funfetti cake with vanilla Oreo icing. Everything was so yummy!

How was your Easter weekend?
Did you spend some time outdoors too?
Did you cook or eat a yummy Easter dinner?

Weekend stuff

Happy Monday everyone! I'm sad that the weekend is over, but it was a great one as usual. Friday night after work I went out and did a little retail therapy since Jarrett wouldn't be getting off early. I went to Old Navy and got some amazing deals on clearance items. I also got the flats above for literally $2.95. What a steal on flats. Love them. After Old Navy I decided to treat myself to some Avalanche Frozen Yogurt. Oh so yummy.

Saturday I worked and then came home to my wonderful hubby cooking a steak dinner for us. He made steak, mashed potatoes with bacon bits and shredded cheese on top and baked beans. Steak is one of my absolute favorites that he makes. He always cooks it perfectly. After dinner, I was a very sweet wife and I went and got us ice cream from Marble Slab Creamery. Yeah we have an obsession with frozen yogurt and ice cream which is weird considering we live in Alaska. After we ate our ice cream it was cuddle time with the puppies. I think we all fell asleep at some point. Saturday nights are just plain exhausting.

Yesterday we lost an hour of sleep, so we both slept until about 11:30. I haven't slept that late since college, but it was definitely needed. We got up, did laundry and then went to the BX for some lunch and for Jarrett to get some supplies for his trip to Florida on Wednesday. After we got home, we played with the pups for a little bit and then we left to go to the shooting range in Matanuska. I haven't been to the range in about two years so it felt so good to finally get back to it. I love shooting because it's a hobby that my hubby and I can do together. I'm so glad that he taught me how to shoot a little over three years ago. On the way to the range I was able to get some really good pictures of the snow covered mountains. They are so gorgeous!

When we got home from the shooting range, we took the puppies for a nice long walk. Now that the sun is staying up longer we have more daylight and time to take them on more walks. There is nothing like getting all bundled up and taking them on a nice long walk while viewing the snow covered mountains all around us. It's a wonderful feeling.

We ended our weekend by cooking dinner together and watching The Walking Dead. Perfect. Now, I will leave you with my sweet girl, Lucy, to start your week off right! Isn't she adorable?

Weekend stuff

Hello everyone! I am back with some weekend things for you! Friday was a long and busy day at work for me with it being the first of the month and all. The first and middle of the month are our busiest times at the credit union. Hmmm I wonder why? Anyways, Friday was a long day and when I got home I was so exhausted! I spent my evening playing with the pups and catching up on my soap operas! Jarrett usually gets off early on Fridays and he did this Friday as well! I love when he gets off early because I do not get to see him very much during the week.

Saturday, I worked all day and then Jarrett took me to get sushi for dinner. I have been craving sushi all week and we decided to try this place called Samurai Sushi. Omg it was the best sushi I have ever had! So delicious! After dinner we were craving milkshakes for some reason so we ended up going to our favorite ice cream place, Marble Slab Creamery, to get cookies and cream milkshakes. Nothing like sushi and milkshakes to make your Saturday night, right? After dinner and dessert, we went home and played with our new desktop computer. It feels so good to finally have a good computer and a desk top nonetheless.

Today was grocery shopping and cleaning day. We slept in this morning and it was amazing! Any chance I have to sleep past 7 is amazing and I take full advantage of it. We both slept until 10 and then I went and got us breakfast. After breakfast, we got ready and headed to the commissary. Man that commissary was busy as usual. The best part of our grocery shopping trip was getting to purchase Girl Scout cookies. They were selling them right outside the commissary. We were so happy to finally get our Thin Mints! After we got home and put all the groceries away, it was time to clean. Jarrett actually had to go to work at five for a few hours so it was a good time to get the house all cleaned up. While I cleaned I watched The Oscars. Since they were live, The Oscars came on at 4:30 our time! It was a little weird to be watching an awards show in the afternoon. I also got laundry done today amongst the grocery shopping and cleaning. Whew I am exhausted as usual!

I am hoping to have some exciting weekend things for you soon. Jarrett and I have been so busy with errands on our days off that we have not had much time to do Alaskan stuff such as skiing, snowboarding, visiting glaciers and day cruises. We have not had much time for anything fun really. We've gotten to site see a little bit here and there, and take the puppies on walks around the base, but we haven't gotten to work on our bucket list. Jarrett leaves next week for Florida for work for two weeks and when he gets back, he'll be on leave for three weeks and my mother in law will be here for a week and a half. I am so excited and I cannot wait to do all kinds of Alaskan things while the hubby is on leave and while the MIL is here!

For your week ahead, I will leave you with the cutest puppy butt ever. This little butt was the first thing I saw this morning when I woke up. Priceless!

Weekend stuff

Happy weekend y'all! I must say, I am just a tad bit jealous of all of you that have little kids and took them to the pumpkin patch this weekend! And also very very jealous that you get to dress them up in the cutest Halloween costumes ever too! Every time I got on Facebook this weekend I saw all the cute pictures of the kids dressed up and picking our pumpkins and then my baby fever kicked in even more. More on baby fever in a post to come over the next couple of weeks! Now, on to the weekend!
My weekend did not start out so good. It all started Thursday when I woke up with a very upset stomach! I had to work at two, so I was hoping that I would feel better, but no dice. I still went into work thinking that I would feel better once I got there and did a lot of stuff. Nope. No dice once again. I then took my break and grabbed a Sprite from the drink machine thinking that that would definitely help me get through the rest of the night at work okay. Haha no way that was happening. After my break I vomited twice within an hour and then I knew the stomach bug had hit me. Yeah I know, TMI, but that's exactly what happened! Finally work was over and it was time to go home and get to bed. I vomited twice in the middle of the night and knew that if I didn't go to the doctor on Friday that it could get worse!
I usually wait until the last possible second to go to the doctor, but I was starting my full time job on Monday and knew that I had to get rid of this bug fast before Monday came. On Friday I woke up and still felt horrible so I went to the hospital and missed out on work that day. Wouldn't you know it though that the day I get sick and the first time I have to go to our new hospital all by myself, it would be the day that they are having trick or treating at the hospital and that I had to fight through huge crowds of kids to get to the Family Health Clinic! It was insane! There were soooo many kids and I got lost! When I finally got through the crowds and made it to Family Health they took me back right away! They were so quick too! They ruled it a stomach virus right away and sent me to the pharmacy for my medication and before I knew it I was out of there! Thank goodness! The rest of the day I made a date with our couch and handsome little man. Leo was the best little side kick while I was sick.
Later on when Jarrett got home from work, I wanted to try to eat since I had not eaten in over 24 hours! He made me chicken noodle soup and it tasted like heaven. I was still hungry after the soup and ate half a bologna and cheese sandwich too of which I was able to keep that down along with the soup. Whew good! I was also able to get a good nights sleep that night without getting sick again. Saturday I woke up feeling so much better and went back to work at twelve. I went the whole day and night feeling pretty normal and my appetite came back in full force! I ate a little on my break and then I decided to be really brave and grab a cheeseburger and fries on the way home from work. I paced myself and only ate half the cheeseburger and fries. It was delicious and I still felt fine after eating it!
Today I woke up to another wonderful night of sleep and took on the day at work again. After I got home, Jarrett made a delicious steak dinner and I ate all of it! It's pretty much safe to say that it was just a little two day bug and I'm very glad it's gone! After dinner, I got to cuddle on the couch with my two guys and watch some football. Boo the Ravens lost to the stupid Steelers, but it's all good. We'll get them next time! Just watching football with my boys was the perfect end to a crazy, but good weekend.
I will leave you with the wise words of Si to start your week off with a smile or laugh! I start my full time career tomorrow and although I am pretty nervous and anxious, I am trying to just take it easy and let God take control. I am trying to just stay calm, cool and collective as I yet again, deal with a big change in my life. I have been able to deal with a lot over the past three months and now I will take this on too. One change after another I will get through anything that comes my way!

Weekend stuff

Hello all! Hope your weekend was awesome! Mine sure was! Last week I worked mainly night shifts so I didn't really get to see Jarrett much. I worked day shift Friday and Saturday and had Sunday off, so it was nice to finally have some evenings with the hubby for once! I also worked a short day shift today, I am off tomorrow and work till four on Wednesday so that is more time to spend with him and Leo! Yay!
Friday I got off at three then came home and waited for Jarrett to get off work. Once he came home from work, we went and picked up a couple packs of beer and picked up a To Go order of food from Buffalo Wild Wings. We are so glad that there is a BWW here because it is one or our favorite restaurants. We love to get To Go orders from there especially since they are always busy and it takes forever to get seated. After dinner I decided to go to the BX to get a little winter shopping done. I got two infinity scarves and one regular scarf, two pairs of gloves and a really cute hat to match a couple of the scarves. On my way to check out I noticed the Bath and Body works section and that there were a lot of items on clearance. Naturally, I had to stop and look because I am BBW obsessed. I ended up getting the new Love Love Love scent in a perfume and lotion and only paid $15 for both! Score!
Saturday I worked until five and then grabbed some dinner for the hubbs and I on my way home. Later on after dinner, we went and got ice cream at this awesome place called Marble Slab. They remind me a lot of Cold Stone Creamery and I actually think they may be better and yummier! Marble Slab is also in the same shopping center as Avalanche Frozen Yogurt so we are set on an awesome frozen yogurt place and ice cream place. Can you tell we are a frozen treat obsessed couple? Yes, yes we are.
Sunday I was off work! Woo hoo! Our Sunday started off with taking Leo to PetSmart to get groomed. Little boy got a bath with pumpkin scent, his nails cut and grinded, his teeth brushed and his ears cleaned. He also got a Frankenstein bandanna! It was hilarious and I definitely forgot to get a picture of him wearing it. He was a pampered pooch for the day and loved it! While Leo was at the groomers, we went to IHOP again for breakfast and it was oh so scrumptious! I need to stay away from the stuffed french toast because it will be my downfall if I don't! Haha!

Later on once we got home I did three loads of laundry then took a two hour nap. Now, I am not one to take naps, but when I do, you know I am completely exhausted and that I need the rest. That nap was so awesome! After my nap, we went grocery shopping at The Commissary. For dinner I made mini crescent dogs with mini smoked sausages and paired them with chips and cheese dip. Jarrett wanted football food for dinner and that's what he got! We both loved them! They were so good and so easy to make! You guys should try them!
After our football dinner, it was time for The Walking Dead to premiere again! We are a tad bit obsessed with that show, but it is just so good! We've been hooked from the beginning! Watching it together was the perfect end to our weekend.

Today was Columbus Day so Jarrett had today off too. I only had to work until three today so that was great knowing I had a handsome hubby and puppy waiting for me at home. When I got home those boys were just being lazy on the couch. It was too cute and it made me so happy!

Weekend stuff

This weekend was such a quick one probably because I worked all weekend! Saturday I worked until five and then I came home to yummy cheeseburgers made by the hubby. I wasn't feeling too well so I did not want to eat a huge dinner. A cheeseburger and some coke actually made my stomach feel better. I thought I might be coming down with something, but I seem to be fine now. Now if my throat starts hurting then I will definitely assume I'm getting sick. I know I'm going to get sick soon because Jarrett has been sick and some of the girls at work have been sick. Plus we just moved to a much colder state, so yeah, I will get sick soon!
Saturday night after dinner we just laid on the couch and watched the movie Shrek! We looooove that movie! When Jarrett and I snuggle on the couch, Leo always has to climb all over us! He did his climbing and then laid his head on my cheek and fell asleep! My goodness he is the sweetest thing when he sleeps! Especially when he's asleep with his head on my cheek! Love it!
I love how Jarrett and I are home bodies for the most part. I mean we love to go out to dinner, go shopping and find new fun things to do, but sometimes the best times with my husband are when we are lying on the couch watching a movie and holding each other. Ever since we got to Alaska we have been so crazy busy and I sometimes work the opposite shift as Jarrett, so we haven't gotten much time together lately! Any time that we have together at home to just be together is perfect for me!
Sunday I worked until six and then Jarrett and I got take out from Olive Garden for dinner. We ended up getting the out from there one night when it was taking ten thousand forevers for us to get seated and we were starving! Their take out is so cool! They give you your entree in a really cool container, each person gets their own huge container of salad along with croutons, dressing and parmesan cheese and they give you plenty of bread sticks and a couple of the little mints! Perfect! The Olive Garden is right outside the gate that is right up the street from our house so it is perfect to just call in my order and run up there real quick to bring it home to my hungry husband!
All in all it was a good quick weekend! Hopefully this week will be a good week and even though I have to work this whole weekend too, it will be a great weekend again!

Weekend stuff

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful but bittersweet. It was our last weekend in Maryland for a really long time. I cannot believe we are leaving for Alaska on Wednesday! It's crazy how quick everything is happening right now, but I'm glad we are getting to spend time with our families and friends.

We left Virginia for good on Thursday and came to Maryland. Thursday we just relaxed at home because it was storming and pouring pretty bad when we got into town. My little brother came over and hung out with us for a while and then we ordered a pizza. I love ordering pizza when it's pouring down rain. Later on we went to Jarrett's dad's house and Leo and their dog Zoe ran and played in the rain. It was hilarious! Friday we went to lunch with mom then ran lot of errands and did a little shopping. We also bought ingredients to make taco pie for dinner. My favorite! Matt came over for dinner to eat the taco pie and then we went to Tutti Frutti for frozen yogurt! Yesterday we went out to breakfast and then later on I hung out with Brooke and then we had her bachelorette party! You will read more about her party in the next post! Today I went to church with mom and everyone prayed for Jarrett and I. It was wonderful to have everyone put their hands on me and pray for our journey and life in Alaska! It was truly amazing! Later on in the evening we had a going away dinner with my family at Red Roost. What better way to celebrate our move than crabs!

How was your weekend?
Did you eat crabs at some point too?
If so, what restaurant or crab house did you go to?

Weekend stuff

Happy beginning of the week y'all! Hope your weekend was awesome! My weekend was absolutely exhausting! Friday I worked until five and then came home and did more organizing and cleaning of the house. We also got Wendy's for dinner and I tried that pretzel bacon cheeseburger. OMG that is the best burger in the world. That burger and their strawberry lemonade was the best fast food dinner ever, we'll next to Chickfila that is. Saturday was a repeat of Friday with me working all day and coming home to more moving stuff. We finished organizing the house and started moving the stuff that we are taking with us over to my IL's house! We are staying with them until we leave Virginia on August 1st! We feel like little kids again living with them, but we are lucky to have loving and supportive parents to help us out in the midst of all this craziness!

Sunday we packed up everything that we are taking and took the rest over to the IL's. We then spent the rest of the day getting everything out and organized for the movers. Doing all of this in this summer heat is so tiring! After we were finally done on Sunday we attempted to take Leo to the beach, but of course the beach didn't allow pets from May until September. Really? Yes, that is stupid! So then we just drove around a little and then came back home and took naps! We were spent! Today the movers came and I am so glad everything is all moved out! The pictures above are a complete reaction to how I felt while everything was being moved out! I was happy, scared and nervous all at the same time! This is a nerve recking time for us because we have never been through this before! Now that the moving part is done, we are ready to get going with everything else!

Any other military couples been through this whole moving thing lately?
Anyone live really far away from family?
Anyone suffering through a heat wave like us?

Weekend stuff

Hi all! Hope your weekend was full of family, friends and sunshine. Except for a little rain on Saturday we had a beautiful weekend here in Virginia! It was wonderful! So anyways! My mom left yesterday, but I got to spend another great weekend with her! Friday night Jarrett and I took her out to dinner for her birthday dinner. We went to Cheddar's and of course it was yummy yummy! At midnight I had to go back to work for our Ornament Premiere at the store. Mom came with me and worked at the store too. It was pretty fun having her there! Saturday I worked from early in the morning until five and by five o'clock I was dead to the world! I was exhausted after such a crazy busy day! I came home and then we just stayed in and ordered a movie and pizza. Perfect Saturday night at home.

Sunday, mom and I got lunch, went back to my store to do a little ornament shopping then did a little grocery shopping. Then the in laws came over and we cooked breakfast for dinner. My MIL made turkey bacon and pancakes and my mom made smoked sausage and a huge potato chip omelet courtesy of Rachael Ray! That sucker was enough to feed about six people. So interesting and so good. Later on after dinner Jarrett and I started going through our closets and organizing everything for our move next week. We finished all of our organizing yesterday and tonight and it felt so good to clean and throw out a ton of pointless stuff. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders by getting everything organized! Now all we have to do is pack our stuff for a whole month, get all the pictures off of the walls and get out all of my fragile stuff and we will be ready for the movers on Monday! It's all really coming together! We are going to Alaska!

Weekend stuff

Hiya all! How was your weekend? Mine was great because my momma is here! She has a week of vacation and she chose to spend it here in Virginia with us, especially since we move this month! Ahhhh crazy, right? Still doesn't seem real, but any who! Mom came down on July Fourth and is staying through Monday so I'm so glad to have her here for a little. Friday night after work, we went to Cancun for some delicious Mexican food and then we went to Rita's for dessert! Jarrett and I pretty much get Rita's and frozen yogurt once a week. We have problems, but it's cool. Jarrett also got his iPhone 5 in the mail, so we spent a lot of time playing with it. Next month I get my iPhone five too! I can't wait! Saturday, I worked and then we stayed in and cooked steaks for dinner. I also came home to a nice bottle of wine from the hubby. He's a little bit wonderful sometimes! After dinner, we watched The Call and it was so good! I love seeing a really bad guy get his butt kicked by a woman! Boo ya! Sunday I got up early and got laundry done. Later on mom and I went out to Walmart and stopped by Schlotzsky's for lunch. Their sandwiches are the best ever! I will miss them! The rest of the day we were basically lazy which is always nice on Sunday!
Did you go to any good restaurants this weekend?
What are your favorite restaurants?
Everyone enjoying their summer so far?
Anyone going on any fun vacations soon?
